The Wager
David Grann

This novel was suggested by my friend, who also suggested “The Way of Kings” by Brandon Sanderson to me, so a highly valuable friend, and upon reading the blurb, I was hooked.

However, I was expecting an in depth character study. But received an omnipotent, non-fiction overview of the history of Commodore Anson’s journey. This was a little disappointing.

The book is extremely well researched and written. The journey of the inhabitants of the Wager was incredibly interesting. However, it simply didn’t live up to my expectations.

This book is the same author who wrote Killers of the FLower Moon and The Wager certainly didn’t retract enough for me not to try Killers.
